Martini Recipe

*You must be over 21 to try this recipe*

While our host, Simon Majumdar, knows there are many recipes to make a Martini, this is his.

This recipe makes 1 drink.

Ingredients

  • 3 Oz Gin (My current favorites are Ford’s, Beefeater 24 and Plymouth)

  • 1 Bottle Noilly Pratt Dry Vermouth

  • 20 Ice Cubes

  • 1 Lemon (washed)

Equipment

  • I Martini Glass

  • 1 Cocktail Shaker

  • 1 Cocktail Mixing Spoon

  • 1 Vegetable Peeler

  • 1 Cocktail Strainer

Martini

Instructions

  1. Chill the cocktail glass, the gin and the vermouth. (I often keep them all in the freezer all the time.)

  2. Remove glass from the freezer.

  3. Add 10 ice cubes (or as many as will fit) to the Martini glass.

  4. Add 1 capful of Noilly Pratt to the glass.

  5. Add the remaining ice cubes in to the cocktail shaker.

  6. Add the gin into the cocktail shaker.

  7. Stir with the spoon for twenty rotations in one direction. (Note: As the drink is entirely made of alcoholic ingredients, you don’t need to shake it. A shaken Martini is actually called a Bradford.)

  8. Swirl the ice and Noilly Pratt in the glass and then discard.

  9. Strain the gin into the cocktail glass.

  10. Over the glass peel a strip of lemon and make sure to only get the zest and not the white pith. You should see lemon oil descending on the surface of the Martini.

  11. Squeeze the lemon zest to release oils.

  12. Rub the edges of the glass with the twist and then slide it into the liquid, if so desired.
